Aims and scope of the center
The ABC Center of Intelligent Robotics was created as a primary reply to the rising demand of integrated education and application-oriented development in robotics. It is an independent platform within the Óbuda University, extensively relying on a national and international network of key partner institutions and companies in Europe and North America, predominantly. It acts as a research center of excellence, and has three major focuses for operation:
Cutting edge development in the fundamentals of robotics—including hardware and software; mechatronics, control and application.
Bridging the development projects to particular applications, tapping into the scientific results to solve the emerging issues of modern society.
Disseminating current knowledge about robotics both in structured form via university courses and to the wider public.
We are willing to become a competence center for R&D in service robotics, including medical, social and cloud robotics. Inherently, the Center is involved with technological development, focusing on novel instruments, robot platforms and sensors, with adequate control structures and user interfaces.
The Center is aiming to gain experience in manufacturing engineering, system testing, validation and commercialization. Technically, it provides “Software as Service (SaaS)”, “Platform as Service (PaaS)” and eventually “Infrastructure as Service (IaaS)” to other university units and external contractors. The key to its success is the ability to bring together mechatronics, software engineering and usability research to create the accessible robot technology of tomorrow.
Background and history
ABC Center of Intelligent Robotics was founded by the Senate of the Óbuda University in September 2012, however, its predecessor, the University Knowledge Center for Robotics was founded in 2010. Besides, the University has long been conducting theoretical research in robotics, especially in modern robot control. An experimental center has been thought after to physically employ these results, and implement them into applications. After initial success of the Robotics Knowledge Center, the Senate was determined to extend the capabilities of the robotics-focused group, raising the new Center to the level of the Faculties, that reports directly to the President. The initial tasks of the Center include the reform and upgrading of the robotics education at the university, providing a constant source of students interested in robotics research. The Center further supports the maintenance and improvement of national robotics teaching materials.
Commitment to excellence
The ABC Center is fully devoted to the planned, strategic transformation of higher education in Hungary and beyond. Through donations and prizes, it facilitates the sharing of new ideas coming from the students. The Center takes active role in national and international decision and law-making affecting the domain of robotics. It is also a strong advocate of sustainable development and green research practices. It is operated according to the EU ethical norms, and the ISO quality management practices. These principles are expressed through the services
and tasks the Center may execute for the internal and external partners.
Elektronikus és Digitális Tananyagok Irodája (EDTI) az Oktatási Főigazgatósághoz tartozó szervezeti egység, mely a rektor által kinevezett igazgató közvetlen irányításával ellátja az alábbi feladatokat:
az egységes keretrendszer (Moodle) az OE belső igények szerinti testreszabása, a rendszergazdai feladatok ellátása, az adatcsere-összeköttetés kiépítése és karbantartása a NEPTUN tanulmányi rendszerrel,
az Óbudai Egyetem elektronikus tananyagainak egységes közzététele a keretrendszerben,
az Óbudai Egyetem oktatóinak a keretrendszerrel történő megismertetése, számukra tanácsadás, képzések és továbbképzések szervezése és lebonyolítása,
támogatás nyújtás az oktatók és hallgatók számára a napi felhasználói problémák megoldásában,
közreműködés az e-learning pályázatok kidolgozásában és megvalósításában.
Az Óbudai Egyetem EURAXES Hálózati Pontja információt nyújt az egyetemen dolgozó kutatóknak külföldi pályázatható állásokról, ösztöndíjakról beutazási és munkavállalási feltételekről. Külföldről érkező kutatók részére szintén tanácsot nyújtunk a hazai munkavállalás, ügyintézés, lakhatás, egészségügyi szolgáltatások és az egyetemi kutatói munka megkezdéséhez.

The library is an information centre of knowledge transfer, which grants students, faculty, and staff, access to traditional and virtual literature, and supports liberal education.
The content of library documents depends on the programs and courses taught in the university. The stock consists of technical texts in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry related to the basic disciplines, textbooks on Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Safety Engineering, Information Technology, Light Industry, Pedagogy, Economics and Management, as well as lecture notes and language books.
The library network operates a common reference library system and effectively assists the teaching and research activities at Óbuda University. The libraries at sites collect, explore and make the documents of domestic and international technical texts available, and are issued in traditional and electronic formats.
In members of the library network computers with Internet connection provide the access to remote databases, such as ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Digital Library, EBSCO, SpringerLink, Engineering Village Referex and to the national program of Electornical Infromation Service (EISZ). The terminals are also NAVA (National Audiovisual Archive) points.
In two library network members e-Hungary Point is in operation as well.
The dormitory of the university provides accommodation for students, offers comfortable living space, convenient learning conditions and facilities for cultural, sporting and other activities for students in their spare-time.
The management of the dormitories are based on self-government; it provides the students with necessary problem- and conflict solving skills, prepares them for the roles in public life.
At this time we can accommodate more than 1500 students. We meet most of the demand: in the autumn semster 75% of the applicants can be accomodated, while in spring semester it is 90%.
As of February 2007 the student hostel operating next to the Józsefváros Campus provides high level accommodation for its residents.
A Pályázati és Technológia Transzfer Osztály az igazgató közvetlen irányításával ellátja a pályázatok figyelésével, a pályázatok legfontosabb jellemzőinek nyilvántartásával, az adatbázis kialakításával, a pályázati projektek koordinálásával, pályázati teamek létrehozásával, a pályázati tanácsadással, teljesítményértékeléssel és a monitoring tevékenységgel kapcsolatos feladatokat.
Az osztály működteti az egyetemi kutatás-nyilvántartási rendszert, elősegíti a tudás és technológia transzfert, a spin-off és start-up vállalkozások, inkubátorház alapítását, az innovatív ötletek finanszírozását, az egyetem általános versenyképességének fokozását.
A Bér- és Munkaügyi Osztály az Egyetemen működő, támogató funkciót ellátó szervezeti egység, amely ellátja az Egyetem dolgozói számára az illetmény és egyéb juttatások számfejtésével, illetve a személyi jövedelemadóval összefüggő munkáltatói feladatokat, valamint a foglalkoztatottakkal kapcsolatos munkaügyi teendőket.
A Belső Ellenőrzés a kancellárnak közvetlenül alárendelten, funkcionálisan függetlenül, a belső ellenőrzési vezető irányításával vizsgálja és értékeli az Egyetem belső kontrollrendszerének működését, a rendelkezésre álló erőforrásokkal való gazdálkodást. A vizsgálatok kiterjednek az Egyetem minden szervezeti egységére és tevékenységére.
A Műszaki és Üzemeltetési Osztály az Egyetemen működő, támogató funkciót ellátó szervezeti egység, amely ellátja az Egyetem ingatlanjaival kapcsolatos stratégiai döntés-előkészítő, ellenőrző és projektirányító feladatokat, emellett irányítja és ellátja az üzemeltetéssel, a karbantartással és javítással összefüggő feladatokat, működteti az Egyetem ügyeleti rendszerét és gondnoki hálózatát, raktározza a beszerzett anyagokat és eszközöket, illetve selejtezési tevékenységet végez.
